Contract Opportunity: Senior Software Engineer (Consultancy) - Python
Circa £450-500 per day
(Inside IR35)
UK Remote

We’re supporting a growing technology consultancy delivering large-scale cloud and application modernisation programmes for enterprise clients. They are now looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join a major application remediation and transformation project.
If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, modernising legacy systems, and working across backend, cloud and DevOps, this role will suit you perfectly.
The Role
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll join the consultancy’s technical delivery team, working directly with end clients to stabilise, refactor and modernise critical applications. This is a hands-on position involving backend development, cloud engineering and CI/CD improvements.

You will:
- Remediate and refactor Python (Flask) applications
- Support cloud delivery across Azure and/or AWS
- Build and maintain IaC using Terraform and CloudFormation
- Improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins
- Fix complex issues relating to performance, reliability and scalability
- Collaborate with architects, platform engineers and the wider consultancy team
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong experience with Python (Flask)
- Postgres database experience
- Docker and containerised workloads
- CI/CD tooling: GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- Cloud experience in Azure and/or AWS
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Exposure to OpenShift
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
