About The Role

SR2 is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer with expertise in Python and Django to join its growing product engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a modern SaaS platform that serves customers worldwide. As a Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the core backend services that power both web and mobile applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend developers, and business stakeholders, to deliver innovative features and enhancements. Your work will directly influence the scalability, performance, and robustness of the platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of a global user base. This position offers a hybrid work environment, combining remote flexibility with one day a week onsite in the Bristol office, fostering a balanced and engaging work experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend development within a commercial environment, with proven experience using Python and Django. A solid understanding of API design, including REST and GraphQL, is essential. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS services such as Cognito, S3, and Lambda, is required. Candidates should have experience with containerization tools like Docker and infrastructure management using Terraform or similar tools. Knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and experience designing efficient data models and writing performant queries are necessary. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, following best engineering practices, including version control and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within Agile teams are also vital. A passion for building scalable, reliable software and a proactive approach to continuous improvement are highly valued.
