The Opportunity
An industry-leading global hedge fund is seeking a Python Engineer to join its front-office technology team, collaborating closely with Portfolio Managers, Quantitative Researchers, and Analysts. Your work will develop critical systems that power research, trading, and portfolio management, directly influencing investment outcomes and operational efficiency.
This is a highly visible, business-facing role where your expertise will drive impactful decision-making, from data insights to strategic execution.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications supporting trading, research, and portfolio management
- Build custom analytics, reporting, and visualisation tools in collaboration with investment teams
- Develop and optimise data pipelines for large-scale financial datasets
- Automate complex workflows to enhance research and trading efficiency
- Work directly with Portfolio Managers, Quants, and Analysts to create innovative, business-critical solutions

Requirements
✔ Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a quantitative discipline
- Strong Python expertise, especially in high-performance, data-dense, or distributed environments
- Deep proficiency in software engineering principles (system design, clean code practices)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders

➕ Nice-to-Have (but not required)
- Prior exposure to financial markets, trading systems, or quantitative research
- Experience with large-scale data pipelines and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, etc.)
- Familiarity with equities, fixed income, derivatives, or alternative investment classes
