Python Software Engineer – Infrastructure, Deployment, and Automation

About the Role
As a Python Software Engineer, you’ll drive innovation and operational excellence by designing, developing, and improving infrastructure and automation pipelines. Your work will directly empower Barclays to enhance its digital capabilities, delivering high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.
This critical role offers impactful work with a progressive financial institution and opportunities to shape technology strategy while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Turn software design into scalable, secure, and performant solutions:
- Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions using peak aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Code quality, design principles, and performance optimization at every stage.
- Contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless delivery.
ئت collaborative, solution-focused engineering:
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineering peers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure smooth integration with business goals.
- Act as an ambassador for technical standards, promoting best practices through code reviews and mentorship.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and actively participate in technology communities to foster innovation.
Ensuring security and reliability:
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate risks and protect sensitive data.
- Implement efficient unit testing and automated validation to ensure robustness.

Driving value through technical leadership and transformation:
- Champion digital transformation through automation, AI integration, and cloud-enabled solutions.

Must-Have Technical Experience
Core Python and infrastructure development:
- Strong experience in Python-based application development.
- Expertise with Oracle or MS SQL database systems, including query optimization and schema design.
- Familiarity with API-based frameworks (e.g., REST, SOAP).
Automation, reporting, and operations:
- Hands-on experience with KPI generation and business automation.
- Worked with AI/ML tools, including integration or operational workflow automation.
Highly Valued Technical Skills
- Frontend/Cloud Knowledge:
- Experience in Angular for cross-functional frontend integrations.
- Database Add-Ons:
- MongoDB or PostgreSQL for data-driven solutions.
- DevOps & Cloud:
- Familiarity with OpenShift or cloud-native architecture (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Modern Workflows:
- Comfortable with SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of advanced testing frameworks.
