QA (Ear Tag and Cattle Passport Checker) – Slaughter Hall
About the Role
Kepak Group, an Irish-owned food company with over 50 years of expertise in the meat industry, is seeking a meticulous and conscientious QA Checker to ensure accurate ear tag and cattle passport validation. The role involves working within the Slaughter Hall to guarantee full integrity, traceability and compliance, while providing prime cuts of meat, ready-for-market solutions, and food service products to global markets and name-brand buyers.
This permanent position (45-hour weekly contract) requires ritualistic attention to detail and direct engagement with abattoir processes. The role ensures health and food safety compliance while maintaining a structured schedule.
Main Responsibilities
- Matching and verification of ear tag numbers with corresponding cattle passports before scanning them into the linking system
- Preparing and applying labels with necessary details:
- Kill number
- Kill date
- Lot number
- Sex of the animal
- Directing Food Standards Administration (FSA) teams to perform mandatory 10% passport checks
- Immediate reporting of any anomalies, discrepancies, or non-compliances to:
- Technical Team
- Slaughter Hall Manager
- Line Supervisor
- Line Driver
- Halt production if required due to compliance, safety, or traceability risks
- Always adhering to health and safety policies, including hygiene and food safety regulations
- Collaborating closely with abattoir teams and engaging directly with carcass checks

Requirements
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to work in a high-pressure meat processing environment
- Superior attention to detail and rigorous adherence to strict process monitoring
- Logical approach to problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
- Strong oral and written comprehension in English
- Commitment to food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards (training will be provided)
- Computer-literate (training available for onboarding)

Location, Schedule & Working Conditions
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM until production finish
- Legality: Permanent role with contract of 45 hours per week
- Work primarily involves direct contact with carcasses and the Slaughter Hall setting
