QA Engineering Team Manager

Job Description: Quality Engineer

We are supporting a leading life sciences manufacturing organisation in the search for a Quality Engineer.

This is a leadership role with strong exposure across operations and senior management, focused on strengthening team performance and driving operational quality improvements on the manufacturing floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Quality SME: Manage daily deployment and priorities of the Quality Technician/Engineering team to support customer and manufacturing complaint investigations and improvement actions.
  • Technical reporting and coaching: Author and review technical reports, providing feedback and coaching on best practice to enable associate development.
  • Career and skill development: Provide career path and skills development guidance to team members.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with key stakeholder departments, including operations, engineering, supply chain, and maintenance, to deliver projects, resolve issues, and achieve compliant outcomes.
  • Policy and procedure management: Deploy and embed new procedures and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • KPI oversight: Maintenance, reporting, and escalation of departmental and supporting site KPIs as necessary.
  • Support to team functions: Provide additional support to other functions within the department as required.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree (or equivalent experience) in a Scientific, Engineering, or Quality discipline.
  • Expertise:
    • At least 5 years’ experience managing teams of professionals in a manufacturing-based quality environment.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant Quality Engineering role (e.g., pharma, med device, automotive, aerospace), where compliance in a fast-paced business is critical.
    • Advanced understanding of ISO 9001, with knowledge of ISO 13485, 21CFR820, GxP, and pharma regulations highly advantageous.
  • Technical expertise:
    • Experience writing problem statements and executing best practice in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
    • Demonstrative experience with ISO 14971 risk management principles and their application.
  • Leadership capabilities:
    • Experience deploying strategic approaches, setting objectives, and delivering results within a team.
