We're searching for an experienced QA Lead to help lead the testing of our flagship intranet software and mobile app. Working with the Engineering team, you will play a key role in ensuring our product is delivered on-time and to the very highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take QA ownership of projects and guide QA's to deliver them, creating test plans, overseeing and participating in test scripting and execution activities
- Maintain and improve existing tests. Review tests created or executed by others and give constructive and relevant feedback, identifying any gaps in coverage
- Coordinate the testing activities required for weekly releases, including preparing release test plans (regression, smoke, rollout checks), allocating resources for test phases, arranging release support and communicating updates to stakeholders
- Oversee the testing of allocated projects and report on testing progress to the QA Manager and Head of Software Delivery
- Help to coordinate team activities and support less experienced team members with their training and learning
- Provide QA estimates for upcoming work and ensure QA time is being logged appropriately
- Manage the deployment of the application to test environments to conduct functional, system, regression, and smoke testing
- Proactively review defects raised by QAs, liaising with the Defect Manager to unblock issues and ensuring issues awaiting QA are assigned

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong testing background with a full understanding of the testing lifecycle & testing methodologies
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to changes in priority when required
- You can operate effectively across multiple smaller projects, or a larger project/programme of work. You think methodically and plan time spent by you and other testers on your projects appropriately.
- Able to use initiative and have the confidence to reach out to people within the business in order to get the information required for testing fixes and new features
- You lead by example, provide support and encouragement, and you inspire confidence.
- Experience conducting API tests and querying databases using SQL
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Waterfall, Kanban, and Scrum working practices
- Experience of Continuous Integration Technologies (Octopus, TeamCity)
- Experience with testing content management systems and websites or intranets
- Good working experience of using Jira and JQL to create meaningful filters and dashboards.
- Experience of mobile app testing is advantageous.
