About the Role
We are seeking a **full-time QA Manager for Hardware Manufacturing to lead our small Quality team at our cutting-edge aerospace facility. This hands-on managerial role blends Quality Engineering responsibilities with accountability for process improvement and compliance.
Responsibilities
Customer & Procurement Interface
- Represent QA in critical customer meetings, including:
- Critical Design Reviews (CDRs)
- Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs)
- Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs)
- Pre-ship Reviews (PSRs)
- Review new customer proposals and contract requirements
- Ensure compliance through customer compliance matrices and drafting SDRL / CDRL documents
Quality System Leadership
- Ownership of the Quality Management System (QMS), driving continuous improvement to meet company and regulatory standards
- Work as the site GIDEP representative with parts engineering, analysing GIDEPs and collaborating with customers on impacts
AS9100 & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead AS9100 internal audit team as Management Representative and Lead Auditor
- Serve as AS9100 representative during customer/government/third-party audits, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001

Process & Procedure Development
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to design fabrication, inspection, and testing procedures, ensuring adherence to aerospace industry standards
- Drive corrective actions based on root-cause analysis, using tools like Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and 8D reports
Non-Conformance & Failure Management
- Ownership of Non-Conformance and Failure investigations, ensuring detailed documentation and root-cause resolution before closure
- Maintain transparent communication with Project Management regarding failures, non-conformances, deviations, and waivers via customer reporting
Quality Metrics & Reporting
- Develop and track Quality metrics, conducting Cause & Effect analysis to monitor improvements
- Provide technically rigorous presentations and reports to customers, engineering, and management
Supply Chain Quality Assurance
- Work with purchasing to enforce quality requirement traceability down the supply chain
Safety Compliance
- Serve as Facility Safety Officer, leading safety team audits, and collaborating with Redwire EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) to:
- Conduct facility safety assessments
- Report safety incidents/near misses according to company protocols
Other Duties
- Assist with administrative tasks and modifications to existing processes
- Assume any additional assignments as required
Ideal Experience
- Degree: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Science, or related field
- Experience:
- 10+ years of QA Management in aerospace/military industries
- 5+ years of AS9100/ISO9001 system experience
- Certified AS9100 Lead Auditor (preferred)
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of aerospace industry standards (GIDEP, document controls)
- Familiarity with:
- J-STD-001 Space Addendum
- NASA 8739.1/NAS8739.3
- Experience with EE Mechanical Drawings and Schematics
- Soft Skills:
- Stark verbal and written communication (ability to articulate technical details for stakeholders)
- Self-driven, committed to process optimisation
- Detail-oriented with analytical rigor, leveraging problem-solving and statistical analysis
- Collaborative team player
