QA Technician - Maternity Cover

About the QA Technician job
The purpose of your role is to provide technical support across the site, focusing on laboratory operations and compliance with food safety and quality management systems. Working closely with the Operations Team, you will help ensure products consistently meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and food safety and quality standards.
Key tasks
- Carry out a range of laboratory activities, including product and shelf-life testing, equipment verification, stock control and accurate record keeping, ensuring all testing is completed in line with company procedures.
- Supporting the site's Food Safety & Quality Management System and help maintain compliance with BRC standards and ensure food safety and quality requirements are consistently met.
- Conduct routine hygiene inspections, environmental monitoring activities, including microbiological and air quality sampling, as well as scheduled Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits to verify compliance across the site.
- Work closely with Production to ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively, driving continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.
- As a visible member of the Technical team, you will provide guidance, training and coaching to manufacturing colleagues, promoting quality awareness and encouraging compliance with company procedures.

About You
The successful candidate shall have a scientific or food-based background and preferably educated to degree level in a relevant subject or have relevant technical experience within food manufacturing.
Knowledge of BRCGS audits, food hygiene level 3 and HACCP level 3 are desirable and would be advantageous.

- Job Reference: 9083
- Salary: c. £28,000 - £30,000
- Contract Type: Maternity cover contract
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm with some flexibility required to support shift handovers.
- Location: West Midlands, commutable from Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, West Bromwich and surrounding areas.
