PAY RATE: £13.58 GBP / hour

SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and reliable QC Microbiology Technician to join the Quality Control team. In this role, you will perform routine microbiological testing of raw materials, products, and environmental samples in strict compliance with GMP, GLP, and company SOPs. Acting as a key support to Senior Scientists, you will also help mentor junior staff, track batch data via GLIMS, and assist in managing out-of-specification (OOS) investigations to ensure the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
ROLE FUNCTIONS
- Microbiological Testing & Quality Control: Test the microbiological properties of materials and finished products to defined specifications using approved GLP methods to support QC batch release.
- Environmental & Water Monitoring: Collect and test environmental monitoring (EM) and water samples across facility zones as required.
- Data Management & GLIMS: Receive, record, and report testing results accurately on GLIMS. Maintain environmental monitoring tracking spreadsheets, including trending data and transcription checks.
- Batch Tracking & Validation: Update batch trackers with microbiology testing dates and conduct Growth Promotion testing on incoming goods. Execute testing according to validation protocols.
- OOS & Deviation Management: Respond to and escalate Out of Specification (OOS) / Action Threshold Exceeded (ATR) events in accordance with SOPs; gather critical information for ATR/OOS and Method Deviation investigations.
- Team Support & Mentoring: Provide technical support to Senior Scientists and Scientist 2 roles, while mentoring junior laboratory team members with minimal supervision.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all laboratory records and documentation strictly adhere to GMP, GLP, and company SOP guidelines.

This position operates on a fixed 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM shift pattern (2 open roles):

- Shift Pattern A: Tuesday – Saturday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Shift Pattern B: Sunday – Thursday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Core Experience: Demonstrated experience working in a microbiology quality control (QC) laboratory environment within a regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Biopharma, or Medical Devices).
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with environmental monitoring, Growth Promotion testing, GLP/GMP standards, and laboratory data management systems (GLIMS / LIMS).
- OOS & Investigations: Familiarity with responding to OOS/ATR events and supporting method deviation investigations.
- Mentoring & Leadership: Capability to mentor junior staff and work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Soft Skills & Attributes: Strong literacy, numeracy, and high attention to detail. Excellent organizational and teamwork abilities.
- Location & Work Authorization: Must possess full legal authorization to work in the UK and be able to commute daily to Swindon, UK.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
