QC Team Leader - Raw Materials & Sampling
About the Role
Day shift, Mon-Fri, 0800–1630 9-day fortnight (every other Friday off) £45,000 per annum

Reporting to the QC Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring every raw material and packaging component adheres to the highest standards, with direct responsibility for sampling, testing, and reporting—keeping production seamless and customer-processed products compliant, safe, and on time.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead & oversee the Raw Materials & Sampling team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness in all testing and reporting.
- Drive sampling, testing, and quality control processes to support uninterrupted production, working closely with manufacturing, packaging, and third-party labs.
- Maintain sampling booths and equipment, while supporting deviations, investigations, and CAPA activity.
- Foster a positive safety culture through inspections, training, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as a key communicator, chairing Tier 1 meetings, escalating issues, and driving Right First Time performance with stakeholders.
- Ensure full GMP and regulatory compliance, contributing to strong audit outcomes and meeting departmental KPIs.

What Success Looks Like
- Zero delays in sampling/testing—smooth, on-time operations.
- Excellent Right First-Time (RFT) performance and strict adherence to schedules.
- A trained, confident, and empowered team with minimal turnover.
- Clear, transparent communication within and across departments.
- Consistently positive audit outcomes with robust regulatory compliance.
Essential Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in analytical or testing teams within GMP-regulated environments (pharmaceutical, food, automotive, aeronautical, etc.).
- Strong hands-on expertise in raw material testing, including:
- Wet chemistry
- Chromatography
- Spectroscopy
- Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Pharmacy, Food Science).
- Problem-solving agility, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to prioritise workloads under deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- Continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Ability to influence teams and drive cultural change positively.
