QC Technician

THE POSITION

We are looking for a QC Technician to join our Quality Control Microbiology team at our Pirbright site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in microbiology, gained either through education or professional experience, to develop their skills within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment.

Location: Pirbright, UK. This is a fully onsite and fixed-term contract until end of December 2027.

Tasks And Responsibilities

  • All aspects of in-process testing where results are used to support release of batches to required specifications, including receipt of test samples
  • Test in support of site utilities and environmental monitoring testing programs, such as microbial count, endotoxin, conductivity and TOC
  • Complete laboratory documentation and data entry accurately
  • Support quality processes including deviations, CAPA, OOS investigations and change controls
  • Maintain SOPs, laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, biosafety and HSE standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QC function
  • Sterilisation of equipment and waste removal from the restricted area

Requirements

  • A background in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline, gained through education, university studies or practical laboratory experience
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within microbiology, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or another regulated setting
  • An understanding of GMP, GxP or quality-controlled environments, or a willingness to learn and develop in this area
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems
