QHSE Manager
Job Title: Site QHSE Manager Location: Bridgwater (Onsite, 5 days a week) Department: Operations Reporting to: Lead QHSE Manager
Role Overview: The Site QHSE Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with business management systems, as well as quality, health, safety, and environmental policies across the site. They act as the key contact for customer-facing quality matters, maintaining professional relationships and addressing any quality concerns effectively.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Compliance Leads by example to promote a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and safety. Ensures adherence to business management systems, auditing against AS9100, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001 standards. Drives proactive health and safety initiatives, monitoring and improving processes to maintain compliance and reduce incidents. Ensures personal data handling is compliant with GDPR and other relevant regulations. Quality Management Develops and implements quality strategies and internal policies in conjunction with the Lead QHSE Manager. Manages a team of inspectors and engineers, ensuring effective performance and engagement. Serves as the primary contact for customer and supplier quality matters. Maintains accurate quality records, KPIs, and manages internal and external rejects to prevent future errors. Supports internal and external audits and ensures standardisation of quality processes across the site. Health, Safety & Environment Oversees the site’s health, safety, and environmental management systems. Encourages reporting of hazards and near misses, investigating incidents with line managers. Conducts risk assessments, maintains safety equipment, and ensures adequate first aid coverage. Coordinates inspections, audits, and compliance reporting with regulatory bodies. Provides induction and ongoing HSE training for all employees.

Experience & Skills: Extensive experience in managing compliance within fast-paced manufacturing environments (aerospace/medical sectors desirable). Strong knowledge of health & safety practices in a manufacturing setting. Proven ability to write and implement policies and procedures. Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, 8D, Lean, and Six Sigma (desirable). Demonstrated ability to maintain compliance and sustain business management systems.

Qualifications: NEBOSH Level 5 NVQ or equivalent (training may be provided for the right candidate). Quality management qualification advantageous; substantial experience in quality engineering/management is essential.
Personal Attributes: Proactive “can-do” attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement. Strong communicator and influencer, with leadership and team-working skills. Able to perform under pressure and make timely decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Flexible and willing to work additional hours when necessary.
Working Arrangement: Full-time onsite role, 5 days per week in Bridgwater.
