QSHE Manager
About the Role
Days of Working: Variable across the week – dependent upon business needs.
An opinionated and proactive role in supporting the QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental) team to develop and maintain a positive culture around QHSE standards. Responsibilities include coaching, advising, and guiding senior managers and operational teams while influencing behaviours, training staff, and delivering a risk-based QHSE audit programme. Additionally, the role involves carrying out accident and incident investigations (as directed).
Working Arrangements
- Full-time (per contract hours, with flexible working considered)
- Shift patterns include night work (aligned with cleaning operations)
- Regular travel across multiple national sites, with overnight stays for on-site visits as required by business needs
Main Responsibilities
Team & Policy Leadership
- Up-skill operational management to improve QHSE competence, confidence, and effectiveness.
- Participate in policy and process reviews to ensure usability, clarity, and implementation.
- Monitor and guide the QHSE team in supporting operational compliance.
Communication & Reporting
- Proactively communicate QHSE issues and produce reports, bulletins, and briefings to encourage learning.
- Respond to emerging challenges with adaptive problem-solving.
Strategic &Operational Support
- Align with QHSE strategic objectives to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage QHSE matters effectively and lead corrective action where necessary.

Audit & Investigation
- Conduct scheduled QHSE audits to identify inconsistencies and oversee corrective actions.
- Appoint QHSE advisors for accident/incident investigations, including reportable events.
- Lead investigations and deliver reports with recommendations for preventative measures, working with management.
External & Regulatory Liaison
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g. Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environmental Health Officers (EHO)) during investigations.
- Represent the QHSE team at compliance/resilience-related meetings.
Training & Compliance Coordination
- Champion the OCS Customer Services and Learning & Development (L&D) training programme.
- Champion L&D training administration for: workshops, toolbox talks, and “hot shots.”
- Ensure quality control over training compliance to confirm all activities are completed.
- Maintain electronic and physical records (Assure/Bluehook/Q, Excel, Power BI) for all training and compliance data.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on new legislation and industry best practices for maintenance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Enhance collaborations within the QHSE team for seamless delivery of services.
