Drama Teacher (QTS) : South Cambridge

Location: South Cambridge

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract

Duration: September to December (with a strong opportunity to extend for the full academic year)

Salary: Paid to Scale (MPS/UPS reflective of experience)

Are you an inspiring and creative Drama Teacher holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)? We are currently partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in South Cambridge to recruit a passionate Drama specialist for a full-time, long-term assignment starting this September.

This position carries full classroom ownership, meaning you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and assessing engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. In recognition of these full teaching responsibilities, remuneration will be paid strictly to scale from day one. Initially running until December, there is a strong possibility of this placement extending for the full academic year for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, Prepare and Deliver: Design and execute high-quality, practical, and theoretical Drama lessons that inspire students across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE specification).
  • Assessment and Progression: Undertake full assessment responsibilities, marking student work, tracking academic progress, and providing constructive feedback to guide development.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, dynamic, and collaborative studio environment, fostering a culture of creativity, confidence, and mutual respect.
  • Departmental Contribution: Work closely with the wider Performing Arts department to ensure continuity of the curriculum and contribute to any scheduled extracurricular rehearsals or school productions where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential for this role.
  • A strong degree or academic specialism in Drama, Theatre Studies, or the Performing Arts.
  • Proven experience teaching the secondary Drama curriculum up to GCSE standard within a UK school setting.
  • Full commitment to the complete teaching cycle, including planning, grading, and attending departmental meetings.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check immediately).
