Qualification Development Lead – Permanent

About AQA and the Role

At AQA, we’re committed to advancing education for both our people and students. As the UK’s largest provider of academic qualifications, we examine over 10 million papers annually, and our exceptional staff make this possible.

We’re seeking a Qualification Development Lead to help shape the future of qualifications in the UK. This is a permanent role, available in Manchester (£53,000–£61,000) and Guildford (£55,500–£63,500), with hybrid working (minimum 2 days in-office).

About the Role

You’ll be part of an exciting, newly formed team, responsible for developing and accrediting future qualifications. Reporting to a Senior Qualification Development Manager, your work will bridge education policy, assessment principles, and customer needs to deliver specifications that empower teachers and learners across the UK.

This work involves cross-functional collaboration with subject experts, Associates (senior examiners), and specialist colleagues to ensure standards, compliance, and a positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

Qualification Development

  • Develop high-quality specifications and supporting materials aligned with regulatory frameworks and AQA’s strategic goals.
  • Manage Associates (external subject matter experts) to deliver detailed, accurate content compliant with DfE subject requirements and Ofqual guidelines.
  • Ensure clarity, coherence, and accessibility in customer-facing documents, leveraging technology and publishing tools.

Regulatory and Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the accreditation process with Ofqual, ensuring all submissions meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate feedback action plans, including Ofqual responses, resubmissions, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain a RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) log and robust documentation for audits.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
