Nursery Practitioner – Bright Flex / Bank Team

Location: Phoenix Day Nursery and Preschool, Merrymeade Coach House, Merrymeade Chase, Brentwood, Essex, CM15 9BG Salary: Starting from £14.24 per hour (dependent on qualifications & experience) Working Hours: Flexible (Bank/agency-style role)


About the Role

Bright Horizons Phoenix Day Nursery and Preschool, an Outstanding (Ofsted) setting, is seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and committed practitioner to join our Bright Flex / Bank team.

In a role where you can work as an employee with the flexibility of bank hours—but the professional benefits of being part of the team! You’ll contribute to the early years education of young children, ensuring they thrive through engaging, educational, and fun activities while supporting colleagues with daily operations.


The Setting

Nestled in a tranquil, woodland-inspired environment near Brentwood Train Station, our nursery offers:

  • Plentiful open spaces and wildlife for exploration
  • A warm, nurturing atmosphere
  • Outdoors and indoors, rich play and learning areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside a team to lead EYFS-aligned activities for educational and developmental growth
  • Guide children through key milestones with interactive, fun learning experiences
  • Assist with room preparation, tidying, and day-to-day care routines
  • Ensure safety, hygiene, and adherence to safeguarding protocols
  • Work flexibly to support the team between shifts

Requirements

  • Level 3 or above early years qualification (e.g., Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator, Nanny, or similar)
  • Proven experience working with children in:
    • Nursery
    • Day nurseries
    • Preschool
    • Childminding settings
  • Passion for making play-based learning engaging and impactful
  • Ability to use varied communication techniques (for children and adults)
  • Strong safeguarding awareness, including familiarity with DBS checks and safer recruitment processes
  • Flexibility & adaptability—with a positive attitude towards changing demands
