Description:

Full Time / 37 hours per week / Permanent

We are seeking a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive with experience in providing advice on complex commercial transactions, with particular expertise in supporting capital projects.

This is a career graded post (LG Band 9 – LG Band 11). Appointment to a level will depend on the outcome of the selection process and experience of the successful candidate. Dependent on availability of work/vacancy at a higher level, progress will be by satisfactory performance, agreed at annual Appraisals and through on-going supervision.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll manage your own caseload of commercial, construction and contract law matters, acting as lead lawyer on major capital projects from inception through procurement, contract award, delivery and completion.
  • You will advise on complex commercial arrangements, funding agreements, development projects, construction contracts and collaboration agreements.
  • Working closely with project managers, procurement colleagues and senior officers, you’ll help deliver some of the Council’s most significant investment programmes.

What You’ll Need

  • You’ll have significant experience in providing commercial and contract law advice.
  • As a problem solver, who is commercially aware, you’ll provide solutions focused commercial law advice and support to the Council and other public bodies.
  • Using strong communication skills, you’ll build and manage relationships with clients carrying through assigned tasks and matters to conclusion.
  • Pragmatic in your advice, talented, and proactive, you’ll work effectively with client departments and the team.
