About The Role

This vacancy is only open to those that are already qualified as a Rail operator, within a freight environment. This is also a Talent Pool vacancy for you to register early interest for upcoming recruitment.

At GB Railfreight, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s most successful, people-focused rail freight operators — and we’re looking for motivated, safety-conscious Rail Operators (Shunters) to join our exceptional team.

What You’ll Do

  • Safely marshal, couple and uncouple wagons and locomotives within depots and yards.
  • Carry out essential ground operations and safety checks.
  • Work closely with Drivers and Yard Managers to keep freight services running efficiently and on time.

What we are looking for

  • A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
  • Great teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Previous rail experience is a must.
  • Full UK Manual drivers’ licence.
  • Live within 45 minutes of the location on the job advert.
