Role: Qualified SENCO
Rate of pay: £250 - £300 daily - Dependent on experience
Location: Yardley Wood
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join a welcoming and well-established secondary school in South Birmingham to start asap.
This is a full-time SENCO job position and offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious SEND professional to play a key role in shaping inclusive practice across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, external agencies, and families to ensure that students with special educational needs receive the highest quality support and provision.
The school is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable SENCO who combines strong organizational skills with a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people.
The SENCO Job Role
As SENCO, You Will
- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school
- Manage and maintain the SEND register and student records
- Oversee EHCP reviews and annual review processes
- Work closely with teaching staff to ensure appropriate support and interventions are in place
- Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Support staff development and promote inclusive teaching strategies across the curriculum
- Monitor student progress and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives relating to SEND provision
- Ensure the school remains compliant with statutory SEND requirements

SENCO Job Person Specification
We Are Looking For a Candidate Who
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has previous experience working as a SENCO within a secondary school setting
- Has an excellent understanding of current SEND legislation and best practice
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is willing to work towards it
- Has strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Is passionate about improving educational outcomes for students with additional needs

Role Requirements
- QTS Qualified Teaching Status
- Previous Experience Working In Educational Is Essential.
- A commitment to promoting equality and diversity in the classroom
- An understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
