Qualified SENCO – Full-Time Position
Role Overview
- Title: Qualified SENCO
- Rate: £250 - £300 daily (Dependent on experience)
- Location: Yardley Wood, South Birmingham
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join a welcoming, well-established secondary school in South Birmingham. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious SEND professional to play a key role in shaping inclusive practice across the school.
The ideal candidate will work closely with:
- Senior leaders
- Teachers and support staff
- External agencies
- Families
The school aims to ensure that students with special educational needs (SEN) receive the highest quality support and provision.
This role is suited to a proactive and knowledgeable SENCO who combines:
- Strong organisational skills
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
As SENCO, you will:
- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school
- Manage and maintain the SEND register and student records
- Oversee EHCP reviews and annual review processes
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement appropriate interventions and support
- Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Support staff development and promote inclusive teaching strategies across the curriculum
- Monitor progress and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives related to SEND
- Ensure compliance with statutory SEND requirements

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have previous experience working as a SENCO in a secondary school setting
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of current SEND legislation and best practice
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or be willing to work towards it
- Display strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Show a passion for improving educational outcomes for students with additional needs

Role Requirements
- Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Previous experience in education is essential
- Commitment to promoting equality and diversity in the classroom
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
- Enhanced DBS check required (up-to-date update through Connex Education, if not already secured)
