About the Role

West Northamptonshire Council’s Adult Social Care service is transforming to deliver more local, strength-based care placed firmly at the heart of communities.

As a Social Worker, you will join a supportive and forward-thinking service where your work directly impacts lives. Helping adults with diverse needs maintain independence, improve wellbeing, and achieve person-centred outcomes, you will thrive in a culture prioritising collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Our Teams

  • Community Hub teams

    • Support adults aged 18+ across Northamptonshire, including rural areas such as Daventry, Towcester, and Brackley.
  • Learning Disability team

    • Promotes independence and inclusion for adults with learning disabilities.
  • Flow and Capacity Team (FACT)

    • Facilitates hospital discharges and transitions into community settings.
  • Assurance and Safeguarding team

    • Leads safeguarding enquiries and supports adults at risk of harm.
  • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team

    • Conducts statutory Mental Capacity and Best Interests Assessments.
  • Discharge and Review Team (DART)

    • Supports CHC (Care and Health) reviews and discharge into residential or specialist settings.

Working Pattern

  • Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

    • Flexible and part-time options available.

A driving license and access to your own transport is required.

Responsibilities

You will support adults with varied needs to live safely, independently, and dignified lives:

  • Manage complex caseloads, conducting strengths-based assessments and person-centred support planning.
  • Exercise professional judgment to manage risks, respond to changing needs, and lead safeguarding enquiries when required.
  • Build strong relationships with individuals, families, and carers.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, housing services, and voluntary sector partners to deliver joined-up support.
  • Adhere to key legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act.

About You

We’re seeking qualified and experienced Social Workers, registered with Social Work England, with an unwavering commitment to high-quality adult social care.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Ability to manage a complex, varied caseload.
  • Strong professional judgment and proficiency in legislation application (e.g., Care Act 2014).
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Motivation to achieve person-centred outcomes that matter.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Course knowledge of safeguarding and advocacy.

Ideal candidates:

  • Previously worked within adult social care, organisational multitasking and solution-focused problem-solving.
  • Appreciate working in a fast-paced environment that demands adaptability.
  • Proactively build relationships with partners across various sectors, including health, housing, community groups, and voluntary organisations.

Nice to Have (but not essential):

  • Qualifications/experience in:
    • Best Interests Assessor (BIA).
    • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
    • Practice educator roles.
