Qualified Sonographer

Band 7 Sonographer – Permanent Position

Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead

We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Sonographers to join our busy, friendly ultrasound team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.


About the Role

Our Ultrasound department spans a range of specialties, offering opportunities for advanced practice.

The role requires successful applicants to:

  • Conduct scans at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Blaydon, and the Metrocentre
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient care

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualification:
    • UK-recognised Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound (CASE accredited)
    • Additional ultrasound qualifications are desirable
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years as an NHS sonographer (prior NHS experience preferred)
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Strong work ethic with a drive to improve clinical care
    • Ability to work shifts (7-day service) and cover multiple radiology sites
    • Independent scanning and reporting competencies
    • Prioritisation skills alongside excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

As a sonographer, you will:

  • Produce high-quality ultrasound images across all radiology sites (QEH, Blaydon, Metrocentre, community clinics)
  • Conduct and report on a comprehensive range of ultrasound protocols in line with departmental policies
  • Deliver a first-class service for referrers and patients
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and imaging quality
