Quality and Compliance Supervisor
Engineer – Technical Assessor – Street Lighting <sup>Enfield</sup>
At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK. Through our Street Lighting Team, you’ll be working with essential infrastructure to build a better future and create lasting social value.
Where will you work? You’ll be **joining our Street Lighting Team in Enfield, a major supplier of specialist highway electrical services responsible for maintaining and designing over 350,000 street lighting assets.
Responsibilities
- Complete technical audits of internal teams from the audit schedule in the NERS management system
- Ensure any actions from audits are closed out in a timely manner
- Support LRQA with surveillance and renewal assessments
- Assist with the organisation’s NERS management system to ensure continuous compliance with NERS accreditation requirements
- Oversee and maintain competence records, training, and NERS passports alongside the NERS Assessing Officer
- Assist with decision-making on staff competence (with NERS Assessing Officer and Authorising officers)
- Conduct NERS technical audits on sub-contractors
- Oversee on-site training of New Jointers and Jointers’ mates
- First point of contact for onsite technical advice
- Ensure personnel meet NERS competency requirements through training, mentoring, and documented authorisations
- Trainee or Under supervision: Successfully manage trainees and sign off fully qualified Cable Jointers and Mates
- Maintain uninterrupted NERS accreditation
- Retain all NERS accreditation scopes with no suspensions, restrictions, or major non-conformances
- Ensure timely closure of actions from technical audits
- Support successful Quartey LRQA surveillance visits
- Deliver Toolbox Talks and DNO updates to all relevant operatives (ensure they are recorded)
- Achieve new NERS scope accreditation gains
- Complete monthly site audits/assessments in alignment with the HEA Competency Scheme
- Oversee quality of work through action checklists, instrument-testing provisionals (ITPs), check sheets, and reporting progress
- Ensure on-site work delivery complies with:
- Company’s Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Procedures
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environment Management), ISO 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety), HEA (Health and Safety in Energy Networks), Sector Scheme 8 (energy industry), NERS, and NICEIC
- Lead by example, challenging colleagues to raise their performance
- Frequent site travel required

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) accredited
- Approved NERS – Qualified Supervisor
- Key technical and industry knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of LV (Low Voltage) networks and NERS requirements
- HERS Approved Person
- NRSWA Supervisor
- Appointed in writing by your NERS Provider as the Technical Advisor
- Appropriate DNO qualification and relevant operational experience (subject to specific scopes of work undertaken or to be undertaken)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical distribution networks
- Demonstrates deep expertise in:
- Performing technical audits
- Identifying non-conformances
- Analysing root cause & implementing corrective/preventive actions under NERS requirements
- Demonstrates deep expertise in:
- Proven ability to supervise work in line with programme deliverables and quality standards
- Leadership experience
- Confident in positively challenging teams with a flexible, supportive leadership style
- Thoroughly inspiring, motivating, and supportive of staff
- Ensuring improved team performance and exceptional results
- Risk and opportunity assessment skills, with both preventative and intervention strategies
