Role Overview

The Quality and Risk Manager role at The Princess Margaret Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, will manage critical quality and governance functions to deliver safe, high-quality patient care that aligns with CHG and national standards. This is a full-time (37.5-hour), permanent position requiring flexibility in shift coverage.


About the Role

The Princess Margaret Hospital is a key facility within Circle Health Group—Britain’s largest independent healthcare provider—known for its expertise in complex surgical procedures.

This role focuses on driving a culture of safety and excellence, supporting compliance with CQC/HIS/HIW standards, and ensuring regulatory success.


Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical governance: Overseeing the hospital’s quality functions while maintaining adherence to CHG and national best practices.
  • Quality culture advocate: Educating staff on regulatory frameworks, improving awareness and compliance with key requirements.
  • Governance improvements: Developing, reviewing, and refining policies, procedures, and systems to enhance clinical effectiveness.
  • Inspection preparedness:
    • Coordinating evidence collation for CQC/HIS/HIW inspections.
    • Implementing proactive improvements and preparing action plans.
  • Inspection post-action: Tracking, executing, and closing responses to inspections and audits within required deadlines.
  • Strategic compliance: Ensuring the organisation sustains a "Good" or higher regulatory rating.
  • Incident management: Ensuring all complaints and incidents are logged and resolved in line with CHG’s policies and timelines.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate the following:

Experience & Expertise

  • Healthcare background with experience in governance or risk management.
  • Deep knowledge of clinical governance, CQC/HIS/HIW standards, and national quality frameworks.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to educate and present confidently to teams.
  • Project leadership, ability to drive change and collaboration across multiple departments.
  • Extensive experience within an independent healthcare environment.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Relevant health-related qualification, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Data analysis and report-writing skills, with a focus on trend identification and improvement.
  • Certification or training in quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with governance platforms and healthcare incident reporting tools.
