Quality Assurance Automation Engineer
We are currently hiring a Test Automation Engineer (Java) for an exciting client engagement.
Role: Test Automation Engineer (Java)
Location: Northampton, UK (Hybrid) – 2 days in the office
Positions: Permanent
Purpose of the Role
The Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test solutions to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of complex banking applications. The role supports digital transformation by embedding quality early in the SDLC through test automation, API & UI validation, TDD practices, and scaled agile delivery models. The position plays a critical role in reducing risk, improving release confidence, and enabling continuous delivery across enterprise platforms.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software testing and test automation, exp in Xpath
- Extensive experience in banking or regulated enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of automation frameworks and test design patterns
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams and distributed delivery models
Must-Have Skills
- Playwright Automation – Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining Playwright test frameworks.
- API Automation – Experience automating REST API testing and validations.
- CI/CD & Code Management – Integration with Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Git workflows, and automation code maintenance.
- AI in Automation – Experience using AI tools for test case generation, script optimization, and defect analysis

Nice-to-Have Skills
- Agile Delivery – Jira, Scrum, test planning, and governance.
- Framework Design – Ability to explain test structure, framework architecture, and automation best practices.
