Description
Higgins is looking for a motivated Quality Assurance Technician to join our Chip Seal team in Christchurch.
This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with chip sealing crews, Foremen, and Supervisors, to ensure our chip sealing projects are delivered to specification and meet the highest quality standards. You'll be responsible for carrying out onsite testing, monitoring quality, completing documentation, and supporting successful project delivery across Canterbury.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out onsite quality assurance testing and inspections on paving projects
- Measuring and recording site dimensions, chainages, and sealing runs
- Monitoring temperatures, spread rates, density, and permeability to ensure compliance with specifications
- Marking out services, core locations, and areas of interest
- Collecting samples where required
- Completing QA documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Coordinating with Supervisors, Foremen, and operations
- Maintaining testing equipment and ensuring it is transported and used safely
- Promoting a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on site

What You'll Bring
- Experience in chip sealing, asphalt paving, civil construction, or a related industry
- A strong commitment to quality and attention to detail
- Knowledge of safe work practices within a construction environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Full Class 1 Driver Licence
- Bitumen Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
