About The Role

Contract Type: Permanent (Contingent on Contract Award)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Salary: £65,000 GBP (Pro-rata per annum)
Location: Remote
Travel Requirements: Occasional UK-based travel
Overview Of The Role
The Quality Assurance Director will provide strategic leadership and accountability for quality assurance across one of our national-scale education programmes, with ownership of the CPD Quality Framework.
- Ensures all CPD provision is supported by a rigorous, transparent, and independent QA system across the full lifecycle, from framework design to review, moderation, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Aligns with national standards and sector-leading practice, leading to high-quality learner experiences and outcomes
- Holds accountability for the quality assurance framework and processes, ensuring consistency, inclusion, safeguarding, and excellence across CPD provision
- Works closely with Subject Councils and sector partners, leading a high-performing team of Quality Assurance Leads and Associates
Key Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overall accountability for the QA Framework and end-to-end QA lifecycle, ensuring:
- Delivery and integrity of full QA processes (framework design, evidence review, moderation, validation, reporting, and continuous improvement)
- Consistency, evidence-based, and effective coordination across all stages
- Implementation of a robust, transparent, and independent QA framework aligned with:
- National standards
- Subject-specific pedagogy
- Inclusion requirements
- Ensures effective moderation, calibration, and governance processes, including:
- Oversight of validation and appeals
- Independence between QA, commissioning, and delivery activities
- Builds strong relationships with:
- Sector partners
- Subject Councils
- Delivery organisations
- Ensures confidence in QA processes and outcomes
- Develops and manages a high-performing QA workforce (QA Leads + Associates), ensuring:
- Consistent application of standards
- High performance and quality control
- Maintains consistency in interpretation of frameworks and application of standards
- Ensures robust escalation and governance through Subject Councils and partners
- Coordinates QA timelines, submission cycles, review and reporting deadlines
- Uses QA insights to inform:
- Strategic decision-making
- Curriculum development
- Commissioning priorities
- Drives continuous improvement cycles, including:
- Re-review processes
- Provider development
- Decisions on retention or decommissioning of provision

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Essential
- Substantial, successful, and recent educational leadership experience
- Proven track record of:
- Delivering high-quality results through senior educational leadership
- Experience in designing or delivering robust QA frameworks, review, and moderation systems
- Strong understanding of:
- Curriculum design
- Pedagogy
- Professional learning frameworks
- Experience with:
- External moderation
- Accreditation or review processes
- Excellent:
- Analytical, evaluation, and reporting skills
- Ability to draw insights and drive improvement
- Outstanding:
- Leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with government or national partners
- Ability to:
- Lead and develop high-performing teams
