Quality Assurance Engineer
Overview
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide hands-on electrical engineering support to our Quality team. This role will work closely with the Quality Manager to investigate, diagnose, and resolve real-world electrical issues arising from PCBs, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
The ideal candidate will be a practical and technically skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in electronics troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and production testing. You will play a key role in improving product reliability by performing detailed failure analysis, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions across Voltech’s product range.
This position will work closely with Quality, Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet Voltech’s high standards for performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
- Investigate electrical faults on PCBs, sub-assemblies, and completed products
- Perform hands-on fault finding using electronic test equipment, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Digital multimeters
- Power supplies
- Signal generators and other diagnostic tools
- Diagnose circuit-level issues and identify defective components or failure points
- Support production teams with technical troubleshooting of failed units
- Provide clear technical reports documenting findings and recommended solutions

Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation
- Lead or support root-cause investigations for product failures
- Analyse defective boards and assemblies to determine failure mechanisms
- Work with Engineering and Production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to products, processes, and testing methods
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve product reliability
Production Test & Quality Support
- Support the Quality Manager with day-to-day technical investigations
- Assist with production testing, inspection, and validation activities
- Troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing test equipment and test processes
- Help improve production test procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Support the introduction and validation of new products and design changes
PCB & Electronics Support
- Review PCB assemblies and electronic designs to support fault investigations
- Assist with component-level troubleshooting and replacement decisions
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve PCB and assembly quality issues
- Provide technical feedback to improve PCB manufacturing quality
Documentation & Quality Systems
- Maintain detailed records of failures, investigations, and corrective actions
- Update test procedures, troubleshooting guides, and quality documentation
- Support quality improvement projects and internal reviews
- Assist with maintaining ISO 9001 quality processes

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Practical experience troubleshooting electronic circuits and PCB assemblies
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics
- Experience using electronic test equipment
- Ability to diagnose faults at component and circuit level
- Experience working in an electronics manufacturing, testing, or engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with power electronics
- Experience working with PCB manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience with production test systems
- Knowledge of failure analysis and root-cause methodologies
- Experience with quality processes such as CAPA and non-conformance management
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards
- Experience supporting suppliers or contract manufacturers

Working Conditions
- Full-time position
- Based at either:
- Voltech UK – Blackburn, Lancashire, UK
- Voltech US – Fort Myers, Florida
- Close collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams
- Occasional travel to suppliers or other company locations may be required
