About the Role
As the Factory Quality Manager, you will act as the guardian of food safety, compliance, and quality standards across our 600-strong workforce at the Wisbech site—a facility producing 130,000 tonnes of product annually. You will:
- Lead 20+ team members and ensure the pursuit of zero defects to uphold consumer trust.
- Collaborate closely with the Factory Manager to drive operational improvements.
- Champion innovation whilst maintaining rigorous quality assurance protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Leadership:
- Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure full compliance with product-quality standards, food safety regulations, and hygiene protocols.

Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and train a quality team of 20+, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure staff obtain relevant certifications and expertise in food safety and compliance.

Strategic Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage the quality-related budget and influence overall factory financial decisions.

Program Delivery & Compliance:
- Develop and monitor quality improvement programs in collaboration with other functions.
- Drive innovative food-safety initiatives (e.g., Microbiological Testing, HACCP, IAQF procedures).

Customer & Industry Engagement:
- Handle and address customer complaints with corrective actions, ensuring quick resolution.
- Act as liason between the factory and regulators, accreditation bodies, and third-party auditors.

Project & CapEx Leadership:
- Plan, oversee, and execute capital expenditure projects (e.g., facility upgrade improvements).
- Align projects with financial targets, timelines, and organisational objectives.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Deep experience in quality assurance (QA) within food manufacturing:
- Proven track record in QA auditing, documentation, and managing compliance systems.
- Expertise in HACCP, FSSC 22000, or equivalent standards.
- Strong background in new product development (NPD) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TQM).
- Technical knowledge of microbiological testing, food technology, and hygiene standards (e.g., GMPs, allergen controls).
- Exceptional leadership and management experience, including:
- Proven ability to motivate, influence, and develop teams.
- Direct experience in line management.
