1 Year Contract Role – Inside IR35: Project Quality Assurance Manager (Lead)
In this critical contract role, you will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Project Quality Management System across the asset lifecycle. Your responsibility will be to ensure that quality processes, governance, and risk management are embedded throughout the project, driving compliance, high standards, and a culture of quality across all teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Success Criteria

Quality Management Framework successfully implemented across all project phases:
- Standards are consistently applied and maintained.
- Proactive governance ensures adherence to best practices.

Quality tooling and documentation robustly managed:
- Project Quality Plans and Quality Activity Plans developed, maintained, and clearly communicated to stakeholders.
- All relevant documentation is accessible, up-to-date, and aligned with project objectives.

Quality risk mitigation at its core:
- Quality risks proactively identified through systematic assessment.
- Risk-based approach applied to prevent and mitigate issues before they escalate.

Incident management & continuous improvement:
- Non-Conformances (NCRs) systematically addressed with root cause analysis.
- Lessons Learned documentation captured and applied to future projects.
- Audits and corrective actions executed, monitored, and closed out efficiently.

Cultural reinforcement:
- Strong culture of quality established through continuous coaching, training, and stakeholder engagement.
- Training programmes addressing identified gaps in process compliance and awareness.

Collaborative cross-functional success:
- Effective coordination with Project Teams, Supplier Quality Leads, and QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) to align on quality objectives.

Compliance & gateways adherence:
- Active participation and assurance across stage gates and quality checkpoints.
- Uniform compliance with all governing project requirements and regulatory standards.
Essential Requirements
Have you been directly responsible for leading quality outcomes in large-scale projects? The following requirements are critical for this role:
Experience
- At least 5 years in:
- Quality Assurance, Project Quality Management, and/or Supplier Quality Management.
- Delivery experience in Offshore Wind, Renewables, Energy, Utilities, Construction, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Marine & Offshore Engineering, or major EPC/capital project environments.
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in:
- Quality Management,
- Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Qualifications
- A widely recognised Quality certification, such as:
- ASQ (American Society for Quality),
- CQI (Chartered Quality Institute),
- EOQ (European Organisation for Quality),
- IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors) Lead Auditor certification, or
- Six Sigma (at least Black Belt level).

Key Skills & Knowledge

Deep understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), laying firm foundations in:
- ISO 9001, industry-specific quality processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Risk management expertise:
- Ability to identify systematic quality risks and apply mitigation strategies effectively.

Familiarity with quality tools & methodologies:
- Audits (internal/external), root cause analysis, covering techniques like 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEA.
- Managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and correcting deviations.

Stakeholder and change management:
- Demonstrated ability to coach cross-functional teams on quality processes.
- Proven experience engaging stakeholders actively to foster collaboration and quality culture.
Soft Skills & Work Style

Leadership with the drive to embed quality as a priority in a complex, matrix-based organisation.

Exceptional stakeholder management across all levels — technical, EHS, and commercial.

Excellent communication — both written and verbal — to convey quality expectations clearly.

Hybrid work-ready, with a willingness to travel predominantly within the UK (London, Norfolk, and Grimsby) but also occasional international travel (e.g., Copenhagen).

Proficient in English (written and spoken).
Preferred (but not mandatory):
- Experience with quality improvement transformation in large-scale organisations.
- Knowledge of cultural or EU compliance standards.
