Alexander Steele Recruitment are delighted to continue our partnership with a well-established and highly respected food manufacturing business. Due to continued investment and business growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager to join their Bedfordshire site.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a business with an outstanding reputation for quality, innovation and customer service, where you'll play a key role in maintaining high standards while driving continuous improvement across the site. The role centres on leading quality systems, ensuring food safety compliance and developing a positive quality culture throughout the operation.
The Role & Accountabilities
As Quality Manager, you'll take ownership of the site's quality management function, ensuring products consistently meet customer expectations, legal requirements and food safety standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the site's Quality, Laboratory and Hygiene teams, providing coaching, development and clear direction.
- Driving a proactive food safety and quality culture throughout the manufacturing operation.
- Managing internal, customer and third-party audits, ensuring the site remains audit ready at all times.
- Maintaining and continually improving the Quality Management System in line with BRCGS, HACCP and customer standards.
- Monitoring quality trends, identifying recurring issues and implementing preventative improvements.
- Overseeing microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, allergen validation and water testing programmes.
- Managing supplier quality performance for raw materials, packaging and associated services.
- Leading investigations into quality issues, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to improve site performance and minimise technical risk.
- Producing meaningful quality reports and KPIs to support business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements
We're looking to speak with experienced Quality professionals who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Quality Management role within food manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and food safety legislation.
- Experience leading both internal and external audits with successful outcomes.
- A proven ability to manage Quality Management Systems and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership skills with experience developing and motivating technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical ability, with confidence interpreting quality data and identifying trends.
- The ability to build strong relationships across production, technical and senior leadership teams.
- A degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related discipline would be advantageous.
