Role Description
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager you are responsible for managing the Quality Assurance Auditor’s, ensuring all scheduled QA activity is completed, all food safety, quality, legal or authenticity issues are investigated and responded to thoroughly and ensure the QA team continually drive the standards to the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day management of the QA Auditors, their workload and supporting the wider production teams with all QA issues.
- Ensuring finished products comply with specifications and meet customer expectations.
- To react to any problems with products failing QA procedures, to investigate and complete all the relevant documentation and report the results to the relevant people.
- Leading and managing the quality systems team ensuring all people activities are completed e.g. regular 121’s, training, objectives etc.
- To oversee GMP, CCP, Line audits and Glass and Brittle Plastics audits, weight control checks ensuring non-conformances are actioned by the QA team.
- To oversee QA, Operation Red Zone activities (Overall Operations Effectiveness Tool). Monitor activities, challenge missed, cancelled, failed checks.
- To provide cover and support for the Raw Material & Quality Co-ordinator as required.
- To deputise for the QA Manager as required.
- Support with implementation of new processes in alignment with the FSQMS.
- Supporting the QA manager as required with Metal detector validation and the management of the metal detectors programs and database. Management of the checkweigher programs and database.
- To support and complete environmental testing and product testing including swabbing, validations, water, air raw material, laundry and claim validations.
- Supporting during second- and third-party audits.
- Support the QA Manager as needed with Pest Control management.
- Support and complete complaint investigations via the non-conformance process.
- Build strong relationships with wider teams.
- Internal audits completion as required.
- Additional tasks as required.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must have:
- Food related qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience of working within a compliance and standards driven environment – British Retail Consortium (BRC).
- Knowledge of food legislation.
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Food Safety Level 3.
- HACCP Level 3.
- Internal Audit qualification.
- Listeria Management Experience/Qualification.

Working Hours
40 hours per week Monday to Friday. The role requires flexibility to manage and support the QA team working across a 24/5 shift pattern.
