Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Lochore, Fife Hours: Full-time, permanent Salary: £28,000 - £30,000, dependent on experience
Baynes the Family Bakers have a proud history serving local communities for over 70 years. We are entering an exciting phase of investment and expansion, with significant plans to enhance our production capability. As part of this journey, we are looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Technician to join our growing Technical team and to help us maintain the exceptional standards our customers expect.
About The Role
The Quality Assurance Technician supports the Technical Manager in improving site and product quality standards by monitoring product quality and site compliance with site rules, methods and standards. The role provides coaching and support to site production, despatch, transport and management teams to develop understanding of quality practices, and is instrumental in
Key Responsibilities
- HACCP Level 2
- Monitoring product and process quality against defined standards
- Monitor site hygiene, GMP, and safety standards through regular audits and checks
- Coaching and supporting teams to improve food safety and quality practices
- Conduct GMP, hygiene and temperature monitoring checks
- Investigate complaints and support structured root cause analysis
- Maintaining accurate records, specifications, and recipes
- Conduct ATP, environmental and Listeria swabbing programmes
- Support production teams in general food safety compliance
- Carry out calibration activities and CCP monitoring
- Support site HACCP maintenance and review
- Collect product and microbiological samples in line with site requirements

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about food quality, who enjoys working collaboratively across teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years QA/QC experience within the food industry
- HACCP Level 2
- Food Hygiene Level 2
- Experience in internal auditing
- Strong understanding of traceability and mass balance
- Experience in complaint investigation and root cause analysis
- Experience in microbiological sampling and swabbing
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
Desirable
- QA/QC experience in bakery or butchery environment
- HACCP Level 3
- Food Hygiene Level 3
- Train the Trainer qualification
