Quality Assurance Technician

At GCL Food Ingredients, quality is at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Quality Assurance Technician to join our Technical team and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, legality, and quality across our manufacturing site.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Time: Between 06.30am – 16.30pm (although this may vary with demands of the role)

Working Days: Monday – Friday

Salary: £26,500 per year

Position Type: Site Based - Full Time - Permanent

The Role:

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you’ll work closely with both the Technical and Production teams to ensure our products consistently meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer expectations.

  • Play an important role in maintaining our BRC accreditation
  • Support customer audits
  • Drive continuous improvement across the site

Main Duties:

  • Work alongside Production to identify quality issues and implement effective corrective actions
  • Carry out scheduled factory inspections, including:
    • GMP
    • Hygiene
    • Glass & Hard Plastic
    • Fabrication
    • Foreign Body
  • Support BRCGS and customer audits while helping maintain an “audit ready” culture every day
  • Investigate customer complaints using root cause analysis and recommend preventative actions
  • Collect microbiological, environmental, and nutritional samples according to the sampling schedule
  • Complete CCP verification, allergen validation, and species verification activities
  • Check labels, packaging, and product specifications to ensure compliance
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and Certificates of Conformance (CoC) when required
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to continually improve standards

Skills – Essential:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Experience – Desirable:

  • Previous Quality Assurance experience within food manufacturing
  • Understanding of food production processes
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality management systems
  • Experience supporting audits and quality inspections

Qualifications - Desirable but not essential:

  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • Basic HACCP
  • Previous food manufacturing experience

Training will be provided for the right candidate.
