Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well-known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

Overview Of Role

  • Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
  • Salary: Circa £31,000 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Technical Team at our Stevenage Bakery. In this role, you will support the delivery of high standards of product quality and food safety across our manufacturing processes.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety First:

      • Support and be actively involved in improving and maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring that team members and employees are fully aware of and comply with all Health & Safety standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
    • Food Safety:

      • Carry out HACCP validation and verification checks
      • Ensure products are manufactured with all reasonable precautions to prevent foreign body contamination
      • Create and deliver appropriate training
      • Conduct regular audits and follow up on corrective actions
      • Support in managing Food Safety incidents
    • Quality:

      • Carry out process audits as defined within the ABSS requirements
      • Complete audits of finished product quality
      • Sample products to ensure quality and shelf life standards are met
      • Maintain the Quality Systems Manual (QSM)
      • Carry out environmental monitoring and work with the Hygiene department on corrective actions
    • Legality:

      • Collate daily weights information and ensure corrective actions are implemented where required
      • Review checkweigher performance daily and arrange any necessary remedial actions

  • Project Work & Continuous Improvement:
    • Analyse data and identify trends across all technical team activities
    • Provide regular feedback and suggest practical solutions
    • Participate in project work as required
    • Initiate Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to enhance systems and solve problems

The Right Person

You Will

  • Have previous experience working within a Technical department, ideally in Food Manufacturing
  • Have experience leading multi-disciplinary projects (desirable)
  • Be a strong team player with excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Be able to influence and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Have a professional, self-motivated approach and willingness to learn
  • Ideally be degree educated or hold an equivalent qualification
  • Be PC literate with excellent Excel skills 📊
