Quality Auditor – YUS - FT13 - General Engineers
Department: YUS - FT13 - General Engineers Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time Location: Midlands (field/remote: Birmingham/Peterborough to Bristol/Luton) Reporting To: Technical Services Manager Compensation: £45,063 per year
About the Role
Yu Smart is looking for a Quality Auditor (QA) to join their innovative business and ensure the highest standards in smart metering, installation performance, and regulatory compliance.
As a Quality Auditor (QA), you will:
- Apply industry/disciplinary technical expertise to support compliance in metering works.
- Work independently to solutionise challenges, ensuring field staff adherence to business and sector expectations.
- Lead in technical training, assessments, and root-cause analysis for improved performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence delivery.
Locational flexibility: Remote reporting + field travel (Birmingham/Peterborough to Bristol/Luton) Flexible hours: 40 hrs/week (US), within 08:00–18:00 (Mon–Fri).
Key Responsibilities
- Quality compliance & accuracy: Verify installations adhere to required standards and enhance vetting of quality verification.

Technical support & training:
- Provide field/office technical assistance and resolve issues via the support desk.
- Conduct in-centre training, assessments, and trade tests.

Customer experience & investigations: Facilitate seamless customer journeys while undertaking live enquiry resolutions. Conduct root-cause analysis, action critical corrective steps.

Development & mentoring: Design training programmes and offer individual coaching/mentoring to teams.

Process enhancement: Develop workflows, audit procedures, and compliance enforcement methods.

Ad-hoc support: Availability for out-of-hours'enquête situations.
What You’ll Bring to Yü
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
✅ Smart Metering (Dual-Fuel) expertise ✅ Industry Certifications:
- CMA1 + MET1, or equivalent
- Certificate in Power (Logic or equivalent) ✅ Knowledge of three-phase systems ✅ Metering-specific auditing experience
Desirable Skills/Certifications:
✔ REGT1 – Medium-pressure gas regulators ✔ MET4+ – Advanced commercial gas metering ✔ Working with current transformers (CTs) & half-hourly (HH) metering

- Valid UK driving licence
- Must pass a colour-blindness test
- Clean DBS disclosure
