Quality Control Engineer

Quality Control Engineer – Barrow-in-Furness (Permanent)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness


About The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer to support our major projects in Cumbria, focusing on our framework in Barrow-in-Furness.

In this important role, you’ll ensure that all products, services, and project deliverables align with stringent regulatory, legislative, and customer requirements. Central to project delivery, your responsibilities will include driving quality assurance, reinforcing compliance, and championing a "Right First Time" ethos.

Key to the success of our projects, your expertise will help deliver high standards, reduce errors, and foster a culture that prioritises accuracy and accountability.


What You’ll Be Doing

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all project activities strictly adhere to contractual, regulatory, and company quality standards
  • Develop and maintain inspection, test, and quality plans, tailored to customer expectations and industry requirements
  • Oversee document control, configuration management, and technical submissions
  • Manage non-conformances, corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Project Assurance

  • Provide progressive assurance across the entire project lifecycle
  • Safeguard that inspections, testing, and handover documentation are completed and fully compliant
  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting on quality performance, risk trends, and performance metrics

Stakeholder & Team Engagement

  • Serve as a key quality advisor within the project team, offering expertise and guidance
  • Strengthen relationships with customers, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
  • Actively promote and embed a proactive quality culture across all teams and contractors

Risk & Improvement

  • Identify and mitigate quality-related risks before they escalate
  • Capture and share best practice lessons across projects and broader business operations

Supply Chain Quality

  • Monitor and report on supply chain quality performance
  • Support suppliers in meeting and maintaining their quality deliverables, plans, and expectations

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and best practice in quality management
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, ideally within engineering, construction, or large-scale projects
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
  • Fluent communication—comfortable providing guidance at all organisational levels
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality softwares/systems
