We’re recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join a specialist engineering manufacturer in Kirkbymoorside. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys being closely involved with the product—inspecting fabricated, machined, and assembled components, working from engineering drawings, supporting supplier quality, and maintaining accurate quality documentation.
You’ll play a critical role across the entire build process, from incoming goods, work in progress, through to final inspection and certification packs.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Inspecting machined, fabricated, and mechanical components against technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Conducting dimensional, visual, weld, paint, and assembly inspections
- Operating measuring equipment (e.g. verniers, micrometers, gauges)
- Supporting supplier quality activities, including on-site visits and audits
- Raising and managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and ensuring accuracy of quality documentation
- Assisting with ISO 9001 audit activity and continuous improvement initiatives
- Preparing certification packs and quality records for completed builds
- Collaborating closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams

What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in quality inspection, quality control, or quality engineering
- Background in engineering, manufacturing, or complex component environments
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings fluently
- Hands-on experience using manual measuring and inspection tools
- Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- An approachable communicator with a practical and proactive mindset
- Hold a full UK driving licence

Useful (but not essential) Experience
- Hold an HNC/HND or degree in Engineering
- Previous experience as an internal auditor
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental) or ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) standards
- Experience with Lean methodology, 5S, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement frameworks
- Familiarity with ITPs (Inspection/Testing Plans), quality plans, NCRs, and certification packs
