Quality Inspector – Permanent Position

Job ID: 42536 Location: Somerset Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Thursday (8am – 5pm) & Friday (8am – 1pm) Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 per annum

Our client—a leading manufacturing business based in Somerset—is expanding and seeking a Quality Inspector to join their team.


About the Role

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in visual and dimensional inspection, including experience with tools like callipers and height gauges. It is essential to have an understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

Aimed candidates should also be proficient in:

  • Measuring accurately in both metric and imperial units
  • Raising First Article Reports
  • Experience operating CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is a plus

The role requires flexibility due to workload, good dexterity, and strong manual and numeracy/literacy skills, as the standards and training are highly detailed.

Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Dimensionally and visually inspecting products against technical drawings and specifications
  • Conducting first-offs, last-offs, patrol inspections, and incoming material checks
  • Performing final inspection checks and documenting non-conforming products
  • Quarantining, logging, and reporting discrepancies without delay
  • Verifying Certificates of Conforming Product
  • Maintaining complete and traceable manufacturing records
  • Participating in project improvements to enhance quality standards

Person Specification

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in visual and dimensional inspection
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) knowledge
  • Ability to operate CMM or similar equipment
  • Proficiency in imperial and metric measurement
  • Excellent dexterity and manual handling skills
  • First Article Reporting expertise
