Quality Inspector – Quality Control Team (Late/Night Shift)
Due to increased workload, we require a skilled and knowledgeable Quality Inspector to join our Quality Control team on the late/night shift.
We’re currently offering a £2,000 sign-on bonus for this role, subject to scheme rules.
About the Role
The Quality Inspector will conduct thorough inspections and testing to ensure products and processes adhere to AS9100 quality control standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting inspections and testing of products, materials, or components to verify compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining detailed records of inspection results, including measurements, observations, and defects, documenting any non-conformities.
- Reporting non-conformances, unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or procedural violations to the Team Leader.
- Sampling and inspecting random batches, shipments, and inventory to assess quality, including first article, in-process, and finished goods.

- Collaborating with production and engineering teams to identify process improvements that enhance product quality and efficiency.

- Inspecting raw materials to ensure consistency and integrity.
- Assisting with 5S and Lean techniques to improve operational excellence.
- Supporting Health & Safety (HSE) initiatives, including pursuing certifications for ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety).
- Ensuring strict compliance with company Health & Safety policies, contributing to the work of the H&S Committee.

Key Skills Required
- Extensive knowledge of quality control techniques.
- Ability to understand complex engineering drawings (including GD&T).
- Skilled in operating measurement equipment, including micrometers, callipers, shadow graph, digital height gauge, and CMMs.
- Willingness to conduct root cause analysis of defects and suggest mitigation or preventative measures.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and production processes.
- Multitasking and prioritization skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Strong time management and pro-active Health & Safety approach.
Ideal Additional Experience
(Not essential but beneficial)
- Experience within a QMS framework and working knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
- CMM usage and inspection/measurement techniques.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to conduct FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports) to AS9102.
- Experience with structured problem-solving techniques.
- Internal auditing experience (ISO9001 or AS9100) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), or PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) or SQC (Statistical Quality Control).
- (Optional) Basic understanding of ISO 45001 (H&S) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) standards.

Working Pattern
- Flexible start time: 5.30 PM – 6.00 PM (Monday to Friday)
- Flexible finish time: 1.30 AM – 2.00 AM (Monday to Thursday), Midnight finish (Friday night)
- No weekend working required.
