QC / Weld and NDT Inspector

Based at Hinkley Point C (HPC)

As we continue our journey of growth and expansion to serve the new era of nuclear energy, Boccard, as a leading specialist in engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance in the nuclear energy industry, are looking for talented, experienced QC Inspector to join our Quality Team here at Boccard.

The QC Inspector will report to the Senior Project Quality Manager and is responsible for overseeing the quality and safety of the companies welding, installation and fabrication activities, including dimensional inspection. They are responsible for inspecting and assessing the strength and quality of welds, ensuring the correct equipment is being used, checking weld specifications and ensuring all safety regulations are being adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To follow and interpret procedures and specifications within the job scope
  • To manage and control the ITP
  • Contributions to continuous improvements
  • Ensure that the work being undertaken is being carried out in line with the contract specifications and standards, through manufacture to treatment and then to delivery to site.
  • Liaise with all sub-contractors and treatment works to carry out random inspections of these sites to ensure compliance to the required specifications as set out by contract and purchase orders.
  • Complete inspections to ensure material at goods inwards meet the required standards.
  • Ensure a good standard of workmanship is maintained throughout the contract.
  • Ensure reports from visits to suppliers and sub-contractors to in-house inspections are produced and recorded with contract documentation.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Previous recent experience in the Nuclear Sector or a heavily regulated industry
  • CSWIP 3.1
  • PCN level 2 in: PT/MT/DPI/MPI
  • RT interpreters or RT level 2
  • Interpretation of ISO & engineering drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of welding procedures & processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail conscious
  • Good IT skills and ability to use Microsoft software to create reports, presentations, end of install/manufacturing reports
  • Ability to learn new IT software (navigate & utilise) training provided
  • Awareness of Counterfeit, Fraudulent and Suspect Items (CFSI)
  • Must have or be willing to undergo, SC clearance to work at HPC

The role will be based at Hinkley Point C with some travel to our Manufacturing site in Deeside, supporting construction to ensure safe and quality welds.

Note: pre-employment screening will be required to obtain Security Clearance to work at HPC.
