Quality Control Manager
Quality Control Manager
Location: National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD
Akima Global Logistics, LLC (AGL) is seeking a Quality Control Manager to develop, implement, and oversee quality control programs for Vertical Conveyance Systems (VCS). This includes elevators, escalators, ADA lifts, dumbwaiters, and material lifts service and repair operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s quality control (QC) program for all elevator projects.
- Conduct field inspections on installations, modernizations, and service work to verify compliance with:
- Codes
- Drawings
- Manufacturer specifications
- Review:
- Jobsite workmanship
- Hoistway conditions
- Machine room installations
- Final ride-quality performance
- Identify deficiencies, issue corrective actions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with:
- Program Managers
- Deputy Program Manager
- Lead Technician to address quality concerns.
- Oversee documentation, including:
- QC checklists
- Inspection reports
- Punch lists
- Code compliance records
- Support:
- Internal inspections
- Third-party inspections (including elevator inspectors, AHJs, and consultants)
- Analyze:
- Quality trends
- Recurring issues
- Failure points Recommend improvements to processes, training, and engineering.
- Verify that materials, equipment, and parts meet procurement and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with:
- ASME A17.1/CSA B44 regulations
- Local jurisdictional requirements
- Participate in project closeouts and ensure all QC deliverables are completed.

Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
- 2–3 years in Quality Control, ideally in:
- Elevator industry
- Facilities or construction
- Experience with QC tracking software such as:
- QT9
- ACE
- HSI
- Experience in:
- Elevator installation
- Modernization
- Service roles
Certifications & Safety
- OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry)
- Preferred Experience:
- NAEC CET
- NEIEP training
- Relevant safety certifications, including:
- OSHA 30
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- CUSP (Certificate in Purchasing and Supply)
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- Elevator-specific safety credentials
