Contract Role: QC Microbiologist
Role Overview
This is a contract position within a regulated pharmaceutical/biotech quality control (QC) laboratory, specialising in product quality, environmental monitoring, and GMP-compliant testing. The role demands expertise in both microbiology and QC testing, with a focus on producing accurate, reliable, and compliant data in a high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform QC testing of:
- Raw materials
- Intermediates
- Finished products
- Conduct microbiological testing, including:
- Bioburden assays
- Sterility testing
- Environmental monitoring
- Operate in compliance with GMP/GLP standards and adhere to internal SOPs
- Investigate and document OOS (Out of Specification) and OOT (Out of Trend) results, along with deviations
- Review and accurately record QC and microbiology data to ensure compliance and high-quality results

Candidate Profile
- Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline
- Proven experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO QC laboratory
- Hands-on expertise in microbiology techniques, with a focus on:
- Bioburden testing
- Sterility testing
- Environmental monitoring
- Strong understanding of:
- GMP environments
- Aseptic practices
- High attention to detail, with an ability to thrive in structured and regulated environments
