About the Role
You’ll be at the heart of quality control for the Sizewell C project—one of the UK’s most significant nuclear new builds. As a Senior QCT, your expertise in materials testing, compliance, and technical leadership will ensure first-rate standards while mentoring teams in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong Health & Safety (H&S) culture, aligned with NNB (Nuclear New Build) and Heidelberg Materials UK standards
- Ensure full compliance with EDF regulations and site procedures
- Proactively report near-miss incidents and challenge unsafe behaviours

Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct laboratory and on-site testing (slump, compressive strength, aggregate sampling)
- Analyse data and enforce compliance with BS EN / ASTM standards
- Validate test results and batch tickets against specifications
Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures)
- Monitor deliveries and report discrepancies immediately
- Uphold strict quality standards across all products
Leadership & Mentoring
- Supervise and support junior technicians
- Provide training, guidance, and technical expertise
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate test records, logs, and calibration data
- Generate clear reports for internal teams, contractors, and clients
- Raise Non-Conformances (NCRs) and quality alerts where required
Project Collaboration
- Work closely with EDF contractors, technical teams, and site operations
- Support site investigations and resolve material issues
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across all levels

Essential Requirements
✅ Experience in concrete, asphalt, or aggregate testing ✅ Strong understanding of quality control processes and standards (BS EN / ASTM) ✅ Knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental compliance ✅ Ability to analyse data and produce detailed documentation ✅ Strong communication and team leadership skills
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS Card (for construction site access)
- Triple Bar Clearance (Nuclear New Build)-ready (or able to attain)
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- Relevant NVQ or technical qualification
- Level 1 Award in relevant training
