Role Context

This Head of Quality role exists to implement strategic initiatives, drive cultural transformation, and ensure organizational excellence in delivering Projects and Services. It plays a critical part in facilitating change that builds a strong Quality culture across the sub-region’s locations.

The role ensures synergy between people, processes, and tools, enabling flawless and consistent execution of Projects and delivery of Services. It also focuses on building a competitively superior organization by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent—ensuring the right people are in the right roles at the right time to meet evolving project needs.


Responsibilities

Quality Planning and Implementation

  • Ensure Worley Standards are fully understood and integrated into Project quality plans through Quality planning and implementation of Quality Activities—with a focus on embedding Customer expectations into Project Quality Programs.
  • Represent the voice of the Customer in all quality-related matters across locations in sub-region operations and projects.

Customer Quality Engagement and Issue Resolution

  • Lead and drive timely, transparent resolution of customer concerns, non-conformances, and audit findings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Project stakeholders (e.g., Customers, third-party inspectors/auditors, project delivery teams)
    • Ensure governance levels remain robust and effective across medium and small projects to secure successful delivery.

Quality Leadership and Strategy

  • Input into operations and design location Quality Strategy and annual plans, ensuring global and regional Quality initiatives are adopted at sub-region and location levels.
  • Provide Quality leadership when a location or project lacks a dedicated Quality Manager (in support role).

Quality Execution and Consistency

  • Monitor Quality execution consistency across projects and fabrication yards, intervening with improvements as necessary by escalating to Location management and sub-regional leadership.

Resource Management

  • Collaborate with the Regional Head of Quality on resource planning for Projects, ensuring operations and projects are supported by competent, experienced Quality professionals.

Quality Governance and Compliance

  • Oversee Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functional activities in UK business, defining organizational and resourcing requirements.
  • Establish and manage interface clarity with supplier quality and custody transfer processes.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Identify UK regulatory obligations, plan and execute activities and oversight to ensure controls remain effective in exceeding compliance requirements.

Audit and Compliance Programs

  • Develop and update the UK audit program to maintain business compliance, align with global audit programs, and manage effectiveness of corrective actions from audits.
  • Ensure lead-time for compliance audits remains effective.

Project Quality Planning and Reporting

  • Support locations and projects in Quality planning and check the effectiveness of execution teams implementing execution strategies.
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics and KPIs for the Quality function, ensuring alignment with operational and Quality-specific aspects.

Performance Analytics and Improvement

  • Collate and report location Quality performance metrics and KPIs—identifying trends and driving measures for continuous improvement.

Quality Executive Oversight

  • Provide leadership insights on sub-regional Quality performance to consolidate data for regional Management Review reports.
  • Work with Regional Director for the final report.

Cost and Lean Management

  • Manage quality-related costs by prevention and reducing waste via innovative preventative and lean practices to ensure Quality resources are funded through billable means.

Continual Improvement Initiatives

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives with learnings gained from projects and transferable insights into a portfolio-wide execution improvement strategy.

Quality Team Leadership

  • Establish and lead a high-performing Quality team across sub-region locations by fostering collaboration and professional development.

Cross-functional Integration

  • Uphold cross-functional teamwork between Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and other support teams for seamless project delivery.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Accreditations

  • Hold an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor credential, or equivalent equivalent Auditor Training with evidence of methodology, context, and practical implementation.

Leadership & Change Management

  • Certification or experience in leadership and management of organizational change.

Standards & Codes Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of ISO Standards, particularly ISO 9001, Construction Codes, and regulatory frameworks within the UK.

Additional Training

  • Courses or certifications in:
    • Risk Management
    • Problem-solving/RCA tools (Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Investigation)
    • Continuous Improvement methodologies (lean, 6 Sigma, etc.
    • Digital QA/QC tools and systems.

Experience

  • Several years of senior management leadership in Quality teams for an integrated environment (e.g., Oil and Gas, Renewables, Construction, or comparable fields).
  • Experience working across EPC projects and detailed design teams ensures expertise in delivery complexities.
  • Strong customer stakeholder engagement for Quality leadership.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience with key functional leaders (safety, procurement, operations, etc.).

Industry Expertise

  • Faces and navigates UK regulatory obligations, including:
    • Environmental regulation (net-zero target alignment).
    • Safety regulations & Health & Safety reporting requirements
    • Planning & building regulations (reporting & permitting)
    • Complex transport capacities for energy projects
    • Grid Approval Standards
    • Industry-specific codes and standards (acceptance testing standards, compatibility, etc.)

Regulatory & Standards Knowledge

  • Proficiency in regional and international regulations, standards (international + QHSE, ISO 10005+ family, ISO 19011). Experience managing Audits for process assessments, standards-related gap analyses, root-cause analyses that drive continuous improvement.
  • Incorporation of Climate Change and regulatory obligations into mission and operations across the full project lifecycle.

Digital Transparency & Reporting

  • Extensive practices on implementing systems and processes to generate transparent, data-driven reporting and reporting layout control.
