Job Description
Job Outline:
The successful candidate will provide support and direction in the control of processes and quality management, in accordance with both the departmental operating procedures and company Quality Manual.
Key Responsibilities
The main duties will include:
- Ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with company operating procedures.
- Providing guidance in the development of procedures to accommodate a changing environment.
- Supporting Operations in achieving an environment of continuous improvement through identifying best practice and championing changes working closely with Process Engineers.
- Leading Quality Root Cause and Corrective actions through Quality methods such as 8D, A3.
- Providing a supporting role for the completion of Fast responses using Fishbone, 3 legged 5 Why.
- Managing department MRB process and reporting of key issues, late MRB tickets.
- Management of the Nonconformities related to the responsible area and providing support and guidance to employees on effective corrective actions.
- Producing Right First Time data. Publishing results and utilising them to direct efforts/focus.
- Liaising with all areas of the business, at all levels, together with suppliers and customers in resolving product quality related issues.
- Conducting layered process audits and where applicable AS9100D internal audits in order to demonstrate compliance with procedures, processes and other requirements.
- Attending the various business/product reviews to ensure the business is addressing all aspects of the requirement to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Building effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Verification processes to AS9102 (FAI) AS9145 (PPAP) or similar.
- Risk mitigation and analysis (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA).

Personal Specification
It is essential that all candidates have the following:
- A high standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent).
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements.
- A time served background in an engineering discipline.
- An understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical), and problem solving tools / techniques.
- Fully competent in the use of PC’s (Microsoft Office Applications) as detailed technical report generation will be required.
- Excellent communication skills, a methodical approach to working, and proven attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives.

The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role:
- An extensive knowledge of Qioptiq products and processes, together with an understanding of the Qioptiq Management System.
- Familiarity with auditing techniques, although training will be given if required.
Quality Assurance experience within a precision manufacturing environment.
