Job Description
Job Summary
Provide hands-on support to production, resolving quality issues and improving processes. Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Operations, the Quality Engineer will drive rapid problem resolution, manage non-conformances, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and manufacturing performance.
Detailed Description
- Provide hands-on quality support to production teams, ensuring issues are identified and resolved quickly to minimize disruption.
- Investigate production, supplier, and customer quality issues, driving timely resolution and permanent corrective action.
- Raise, manage, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring effective containment and disposition of non-conforming materials.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities using structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.
- Implement, monitor, and verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Support production teams in maintaining quality standards and improving right-first-time performance.
- Analyse quality data and trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in internal audits and support external customer and certification audits where required.
- Produce and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, NCR reports, and corrective action records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.

Requirements
- HNC, HND, Degree, or Apprenticeship served qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline.
- Experience in a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, inspection methods, and quality assurance principles.
- Proven experience managing NCRs, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and CAPA activities.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Experience using measurement and inspection equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience analysing quality data and producing clear reports and recommendations.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
