About The Role

The Quality Engineer role at BAE Critical Skills is a vital position responsible for ensuring that all finished products meet stringent quality standards and customer expectations. This role involves verifying the accuracy and compliance of completed work, identifying workmanship issues, and documenting non-conformances effectively. As a key member of the quality assurance team, you will provide constructive feedback to technicians and collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to maintain efficient workflows. Your efforts will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, safeguarding product integrity from production through delivery. The role requires a proactive approach to quality management, adherence to industry standards such as ISO 9001, and a commitment to delivering high-quality products that meet both internal and external requirements.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a qualification in an engineering discipline, such as an engineering, mathematics, or science degree, or have equivalent experience gained through extensive industry practice. Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment is essential, particularly in highly controlled sectors such as aerospace, automotive, nuclear, or medical devices. Familiarity with quality investigation techniques like 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams is required. Strong data collection and analysis skills are necessary to support informed decision-making. Excellent communication skills are vital for engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, along with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, will ensure success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational compliance with all relevant specifications and quality standards, including ISO 9001, across production processes.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency within the manufacturing environment.
  • Manage and resolve quality issues by investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and supporting internal and external audit processes.
  • Review shop floor records, technical specifications, drawings, and inspection reports to verify product approval and certify Certificates of Conformity.
  • Monitor reject data and quality metrics, analyze trends, and report findings to internal teams and external customers to facilitate proactive quality management.
  • Collaborate with export customers to understand their specific product and quality requirements, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Raise concessions and complete necessary documentation to meet customer delivery requirements while maintaining traceability and accountability.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier and customer reviews, site visits, and audits, ensuring quality standards are upheld across all locations.
