Our client is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Quality Engineer on behalf of a manufacturing business based in Derby.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys being close to production, solving complex quality issues and using automotive quality tools as part of their everyday role.

You will play a key part in improving right-first-time performance, supporting new product launches and ensuring that customer, supplier and production quality requirements are consistently achieved.

Their client is particularly interested in candidates who have worked within a vehicle manufacturer, including organisations such as Toyota, JLR, JCB or Caterpillar, or within a Tier 1 automotive supplier.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will work closely with production, engineering, customers and suppliers to investigate quality concerns, identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating internal quality issues, customer complaints and warranty concerns, taking them through to root-cause resolution and closure.
  • Leading structured problem-solving and corrective action activity using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone and Pareto analysis.
  • Supporting customer quality requirements and responding to customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Conducting internal process and quality-system audits against IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements.

  • Analysing production, scrap, defect and warranty data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining quality documentation, including Control Plans, Process FMEAs, inspection standards and work instructions.
  • Supporting new product and component launches through the effective application of APQP and PPAP.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and automotive quality standards.
  • Working closely with production teams to improve right-first-time performance and reduce defects, waste and rework.
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects across production and supplier quality.
  • Representing the quality function during customer, supplier and internal meetings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
